About WHEN

The Pillars of WHEN

Deploy Implementation Projects
Expand existing implementation projects that improve women’s health and women’s economic empowerment. Projects will train female health workers and work with local and national governments to create living wage jobs for the healthcare workers. WHEN partners will decide on a pilot that will recruit, train and upskill female healthcare workers thereby increasing access to quality primary, secondary and tertiary medical care Robust data will be collected to inform the process.
TRAIN “WHEN” FELLOWS
Create a mentorship program to help train “WHEN Fellows” composed of female students from low- and middle-income countries pursuing a career in public health or education and committed to working towards gender equity and female economic empowerment. The goal of this program is to empower a new generation of women in leadership positions with decision making capacities.
SUSTAINABLE FINANCING
Create innovative financing mechanisms (including grants, concessionary lending, guarantees, technical assistance and private investment) to sustainably support revenue generation models including micro-finance, micro-insurance, business skills development and professional mentorship. The focus is on a health systems strengthening approach that will engage public, private and development partners.
